Oriented plastic netting is stretched under controlled conditions to produce high tensile, lightweight netting. Oriented netting is usually used for horizontal applications, such as crop or pond coverings, protection from predators or nuisance birds or light airborne debris.

Extruded plastic netting is produced in a continuous process resulting in a stable net structure where the hole size is held constant, unlike a woven or knitted product.
